As part of a worldwide pilgrimage, a major relic of St John Bosco is visiting Ireland from 23 February to 7 March visiting twelve locations, including Crumlin, Sean McDermot Street, Celbridge, Balinakill, Portlaoise, Fernbank, Milford, Southill, Pallaskenry, Knock, Navan and St Peter’s Cathedral, Belfast.  The visit is part of the preparations for the 200th anniversary in 2015 of Don Bosco’s birth.

The relic is coming to our church on Thursday, 7 March.  Ceremonies will be held from 8.30 a.m. including mass at 10.00 a.m. (further details later).

St John Bosco founded a worldwide  movement for young people and two religious congregations.  In Ireland, the Salesians and the Salesian Sisters (Daughters of Mary Help of Christians) have 27 centres for educating and working with youth.  If you are interested in being updated on details of the visit, please log on to www.donboscorelics.ie.  Enter your email address and you will be kept informed of events relating to the visit and other Salesian news.
