The 300 year old relics of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and St. Claude la Colombiere will be presented at St. John’s Cathedral on Friday evening 23rd May for 7.00 pm Mass. They will remain available for veneration at allotted times right through to Wednesday of next week.
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque of France was a Visitation nun and mystic. Following an apparition of the Lord, she devoted her life to promoting devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She died in 1690 and she was canonised by Pope Benedict XV in 1920. St. Claude La Colombière was a French Jesuit priest and spiritual director for the Visitation Sisters. He died in 1682 and he was canonised by Pope John Paul II in 1992.
