Preparation for Holy Week

On Sunday 28th March, we will celebrate Palm Sunday, please God. We associate the Mass on that day with the Blessing of Palm and a Procession in honour of Christ Our King. We offer the following reflection as we prepare for Holy Week.
During that Mass, the mood changes very fast. The Gospel account from Mark Chapter 15 is the account of the Passion and Death of Jesus.
We could meditate on any part of the account or on any one of the characters in it.
This year we might choose one person and one sentence from the narrative – Simon of Cyrene. The Gospel tells us very starkly: “They enlisted a passer-by to carry His Cross”.
We pause for a moment with these words! How often in this past year of COVID have you been asked to be a helper? A consoler? A Simon?
How often, too, have you been helped by others, invited or on the spur of the moment?
Let us thank God that His goodness is expressed through us and for us.
