Covid 19 Virus update

In light of the recent Covid 19 restrictions, Bishop Leahy has sent the following e-mail-

1. All those over 70 and others who are vulnerable are to be shielded or cocooned. Therefore all clergy, religious and parish staff such as sacristans within this category should stay at home.

2. Church buildings are to remain closed until 12th April as it it practically impossible for surfaces in the church to be cleaned repeatadly and  the numbers  supervised. Visit to the blessed sacrament can always be done at a distance from the Church in an act of reflection or prayer at home. The practice of spiritual communion is recommended. The priests of the Parish continue to celebrate Mass in their own homes and include the intentions for Anniversary and month minds etc

The government guidance to Arch Bishop Diarmuid Martin at this point is that the arrangements in place continues. Funerals should be small and safe distances be kept. Further guidance will be given this Monday. Families  of those who die from the Virus should contact the funeral directors for directions.
